Who is your insurance company? I'd switch. I use towboat US for my on the water rescue and they are always solliciting me to use their insurance but I use a different company. I can't remember the name of it but I'll look it up for you and pass the name along.

Hi Uptech2000 I've never done this before so I hope it works. I went to the Google satellite map and zoomed in on Galilee/Pt. Judith. I am copying the link in this message.



If you are trailering a boat to Pt. Judith you want to launch at the Galilee ramp. Get directions to Pt. Judith, get on Rte. 108 and follow signs to the Block Island Ferry. There is a turn off Rte. 108 that is marked Galilee/Block Island Ferry. Take it and follow this long straight road (about a mile) It ends and you go right and take an immediate right into the boat ramp parking lot. There are two good ramps. I like the one on the right as you face the water. it is steeper.



The boat launch is right next to Great Island Road which you have to go under with the boat. The map in the link below will take you to the entrance to the inlet. When you get through the inlet you will see a huge area of water that is protected by a circle of breakwaters. There is a gap to the East that lets you through and a Gap to the West. You want the gap to the West to get to Carpenters (On the map, the Block Island Ferry takes the Gap to the West to go to Block Island).



Once through the gap, head Southwest until you hit 40 feet of water to the South and you will see a big rock wall on the shore to the west. The rock wall marks carpenters. You can go further West until you are in front of an isolated area with 5 or 6 cottage/houses on it and drift towards the East (depending on the tide) or start at the wall and drift West to the cottages.

If the drift is North/South, then fish anywhere between the wall and the cottages at whatever depth you prefer. Here is the link and best of luck. Snaildarter

I think I have it figured out, As long as the marine surveyor passes the boat my ins. co will take it. This is my first boat, What a pain in the @#$%. But that's the way it goes. It'll all work out. Got 4 buddies that are going to give the francis fleet a try on fri

Just came back from GI ( wednesday night). Its dead. Caught nothing, everyone started to leave. Will be back next year.

Thanks for all the info about the boat launch and parking and stuff. I don't have a dept finder, could you tell me about how far after the going through the west gap to Carpenters rock wall and the Cottage/Houses area? Thanks...

It's no more than a mile to Carpenters and it is about a 1/2 mile drift between the wall and the cottages. Just look for some boats in the vicinity. There's always some there fluking, especially in the mornings. People tend to disappear in the afternoons, especially on days like today. Snaildarter

You can use pretty much anything you'd use for stripers or blues but fish it close to the bottom or right on the bottom. Fluke are very aggressive and have large mouths. I've read of guys catching big fluke on Pogie chunks while drifting for striped bass. I've caught many of them on a lead head with a white grub/twist tail as well.
