Is there anyone who fished on the Frances Fleet last Sat?
I can't believe what they wrote on their web site.
It's full moon which means fishing time folks!

[quote name='Somerville Squidman' post='11780' date='May 20 2008, 04:45 AM']Hey Pearldiver, thanks again for all your help over the weekend. You didn't really miss anything after you left. We stayed until about 5:00 and left with 14 squid. Not exactly the big catch I was hoping for. I'm starting to give in to the idea of the Francis Fleet. I didn't want to, but i'm losing hope for the bridge this year.
Anyways, we expect to be back down there on Thursday, and maybe again over the weekend. I'll keep an eye out for you. I'll definitely buy one of those reflectors if you still have em. Take care.

Hello,
May I ask what is the Francis Fleet? Has prime time happed yet for squid fishing. I heard stories of people filling 5 gallon buckets last year, is that true

Capt. Ray reported squid fishing was excellent last night. The best trip of the season thus far. Most customers filled at least a five gallon pail apiece and were busy working on another. Three guys from New York filled a good size cooler and then started working on a bucket. There were double and triple headers before the boat was secure on anchor. The action started hot and remained so all night long. Next squid trip is set for tonight at 7pm aboard the Lady Frances.

Lemme know if you wanna do the francesfleet thing. I think I'm in for it. I've done the GI bridge 6 time so far this yr for a grand total of maybe 40 squid.

I think i'll try the bridge one more time on Thursday night, but i'll try the Frances Fleet if you're going down Friday or Saturday. Which day(s) are you planning on fishing this weekend?

From what i'm hearing, there'll be rain Thursday and Friday, but good weather Saturday. I don't have too much faith in the weekend reports, though. It's still so early.

What kind of tackle do you use on the Francis Fleet? Like sinker size and test line.

I have a 1978 Aquasport CC w/ a 150HP Yamaha and love it. Went to Pt. Judith yesterday on a friend's boat (also an old Aquasport) fluke fishing. We fished off Carpenters (close to the West Gap in 40 ft of water. We were catching squid like crazy and if we had stuck around and set up with lights for the night I'm sure we would have bailed them. After that experience I'm not so skeptical of the Francis Fleet Report. I took a live squid and put it on a double hook rig with a shiner and within 60 seconds had a 7.4 pound fluke which I'm entering into my club tournament. Squid were hammering the pink Yozuris. Most squid were on the large size. If you can get on the Francis Fleet I think it may be worth your effort and money.

Same hull, cuddy cabin, all set Northstar GPS, outriggers, down riggers, T-top, Hummingbird fishfinder, I should be all set by the middle of the week just in time to slay some squid.

my buddies are going on friday, going to bring pretty much the same as GI, maybe a heavier line but still a light leader( under 10#), I would think you would want a heavy enough sinker to hold the line vertical and not get swept away into other people(1-3oz) squid are squid, if it works inshore it should work on a head boat
