I was there with a buddy that night! Saddest part beside lack of squid was seeing that fine tobacco take a header! I'm the fat guy who was talking up the OTW Striper Cup Contest. PLanning to go back to GI on Sunday night. Hope you guys are there with your Honda generator-that thing is SWEET!!! Helps us poor slobs who can't afford such nice toys! I'll be praying to the squid gods!
Looking for a report tonight (sat) on GI bridge. Anyone filling buckets? <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/images2.jpg' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' /> Stayed home to watch NASCAR tonight. Hoping to get back to GI early this week.
Hello everyone, I'm planning to come down Monday night from Boston first timer. I wanted ask if you can park the car same place where you fish, or finding parking is tough? Also, if I use the GPS to take me down the Hyatt @ 1 GI, Newport, how far is that from fishing spots? Thanks all.
This was Goat Island tuesday at noon in the cold rain, you can see the Hyatt and the bridge, it wont look like this when the squid come in
Thanks, now I'm very clear where to fish =). I'll be down there monday night, highest tide is around 8-9PM.
Just got back I got 12 from 7-1130 and most were caught in a 15 min blitz
Just returned from Frances Fleet squid trip out of Point Judith. Spent 40 dollars to catch 2 squid. Don't think the whole boat added up to a bucket. Maybe next week....

Hey everyone, Check this out. I drive this guy down to go fishing, We use my Generator and lights, we each catch only one squid in 3 lonnnng hours, and then he teases us with describing how good MY squid tasted. nice guy. LOL.

Had fun the other night watching your cigar going swimming. Maybe next time that other guy who goes with us will stay awake. What a loser he is. He bugs us to go fishing all week and then he sleeps on the way down there and on the way back.
Too cold for my 6 year old but it sound like we didn't miss much. Headed to Long Island this week Hoping to wet A line while I'm their, Good Luck, A couple of buddies were down to warwick this mornig for some schoolies, none to be found

Hey Squid Light King, you ever use coleman's? You should check out these reflectors I made to shine 100% light below lamp. I've made 4 extra's if interested. Made of aluminum sheet metal polished to a mirror on the underside. What a nightmare polishinig them. I'll try and post a pic if I can figure out how. Some of you fellow squiders probably have seen me there the past few weeks.

Pearldiver
Just done cleaning the catch from the 2 nights, turns out 1st night catch were mostly small to medium size (female) and 2nd night were mostly big tuber (male).
So how's everyone do last night? Did i miss anything?
Squid: The other other OTHER white meat
From yesterday...

Got there around 2pm. Jigged the beginning of the bridge for a couple hrs...nothing. No one caught anything from what we saw. Headed towards the middle of the bridge & 3rd or 4th cast, brought 1 up. Then another, but lost in the water.

About 2hrs go by with nothing, we head to the car to warm up a bit & eat some grub. Casted a bit along the wall & managed to get 1.

Then my father n law brings in 1...then another. Another 30min or so goes by & he just goes ballistic...catching squid after squid after squid...there were about 15 or so people (est) in a line...he caught around a dozen before me or my friend could get our 1st. The guy is just insane. I guess over 20 yrs of squidding will reward you with good squid karma <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/zorro.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':zorro:' />

I wasnt really looking elsewhere while the quick run was going on (hope everone around us did ok too). Jig after jig, for a good 15-20 min or so, nonstop action. Double hookups, raining ink on my face & clothes, getting pricked by jig hooks...gotta love it. It abrubtly stopped...and we got a few stragglers after. And decided to call it quits around 10. Between the 3 of us, around 3doz. Still not thick...but much better than the last 2 outings. Thats all for now...hope everyone is catching.

Johnat & Suzie squid. It was nice meeting you guys. Thanks for the tunes. Much better than listening to generators all evening. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

See you guys next time..

By the way, how did you end up doing after we left?
not to sound too stupid, but how do you tell the difference between a male and female squid

Size, Generally the Females are larger than the males, I guess size does matter
