Thanks Spawnie for keeping little squirt company on thursday night. What are our chances for Saturday night?? we are going anyway I just wish the wheather was a little warmer..
I was at GI today from 5-10pm. Cool & windy, managed to get a dozen. Not many people catchin anything. I left when both lanterns died within mins of each other. There was quite a few fishin by the wall side of the bridge. No idea if they had any better luck. Will try again tomorrow if weather holds. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lol' />

Well Im plannin for tomorrow..not sure what time..just know tomorrow. Pearl, not bad considering how its been latley.
Hello everyone, I'm planning to come down Monday night from Boston first timer. I wanted ask if you can park the car same place where you fish, or finding parking is tough? Also, if I use the GPS to take me down the Hyatt @ 1 GI, Newport, how far is that from fishing spots? Thanks all.

You will know right away the moment you see the signed 'Goat Island'.

I'll try to take some picture tomorrow when I go down there.
Any updates from the over night crew?
hello fellow Squid Heads,How're we doing today. Can anyone make fishing for squid easy for me by telling me if are little squid friends are in NewPort (goats Bridge).Thank you. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' />
squids are in newport now, but no really thick. People have been only getting about half a dozen per trip. My guess the water is not warm enough for all of them to come in.
SLOWWWWWWWWW

Motel 6 is right off Rt 138 on Middletown side (north of the bridge), saw their sign said $49 to $59 per night.

Slow, rainy & cold.
I was there last night with a buddy of mine. I got 5 decent ones, good meal's worth. "Lost" a good amount. They're there, very picky, touching the jigs and dropping them. Not very aggressive yet. Lost some at the surface too, as did many others I saw on the bridge (again, not aggressive yet, so not hooked well).

We left there just after 2 AM.

Should be back down there again tonite, with a bigger crew, tho.
I was there last 2 nights, Thursday night had a good bite going from midnight (when I started) to around 3am, and last night bite started 8:20pm and ended at 9:45pm. Overall last night was picky/slow thn Friday night.
Did anyone see the lantern fire? <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' />
Yeah, that was me... At around 0000 a massive school of squid showed up on the surface, ripping into all the bait collected under our lantern. Of course, my lantern took that as the perfect opportunity to run out of gas (BTW that was interesting- the squid only started feeding as the lantern dimmed- perhaps brighter isnt better?). Some nice guys nearby gave me another tank of gas, and I couldnt get it to screw in properly. One of the guys tried to get it to thread in, and I guess he hit the starter button before it was fully screwed it, and it burst into flames in his hands. He was alright, just lost his eyebrows. We ended up just hucking it over into the water- I felt like I was pretty lucky to not have it explode on me. No one got hurt, and it could have been a lot worse than it was.

Now I need a new lantern, haha. Look for me tonight- I'll be fishing with a (new) lantern with a pie plate on the top.
