Newport, Ri - 2008 Squid Season

Hello, I'm new to the site. Been enjoying reading posts by everyone.



I have a general question on which location will be better for early in the season, New Port or further east say Hyannis?

A group of us is heading up north this weekend, and it would help to know which location has more potential. BTW we'll be on a partyboat.

I'm definately going to set up Saturday evening for the nite with my generator and 1300W of <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/innocent.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> gen. It would be fun if we set up (all our generators /lites and) fished as a group. I'll be either along the park bulkhead or the bridge approach.



Who's with me? Let's "generate" a list.



I'd like to suggest that evryone who participates collect at least one grocery bag of trash.

Any truth to this! My cousin was trying to squid the dock (Pier 9, I think) and was approached by DEM for payment of $70 per person to fish the dock and $100 per car to park in the lot. Anyone want to comment on this?

Hi Blue, at this time I would say Hyannis has more potential but you never know. You could fish Hyannis and then go to Newport on your way back. Snaildarter

The dock with the parking lot right next to a hotel. I forgot the name of it. It has a DEM office inside. The one where they had the end section fenced off to rebuild the pier.

I guess I have no comments, because no one ever approach me and say that. If they asked, I would say thank you and walk away. There are so many places to fish for squid.



I often parked my car at the pubic parking lot, normally I pay about 10 bucks a night. It's cheaper to do that than to get tow.
