Greenpoint - First Timer - Squid Fishing
#1
We are first time squid fisers. We'd like to make some plan to visit Greenpoint for Squid fishing.

1: Do we need to get on a party boat to do squid fishing? Or just off the bay?

2: Do we need a permit to fish squid?

3: Where exactly is a nice squid fishing spot for beginners in Greenpoint?

Thank you, and we so far have been enjoying reading the comments on this web.

All the squidfishing in greenport is off the big railroad docks down by the railroad station and also from the new marina docks. You do not need a permit to go squidding. I do not think any of the party boats go out for squid but I may be wrong. The best squidding is right from the docks. You can take the train to greenport you are 300 feet away from the fishing spot. Let me know if you are coming down and I can give you a few pointers....I live right in town.

Hi North, thank you for your response. We haven't gotten a chance to go out there yet. Perhaps toward the end of this month, we'll go. Are squids still hanging out then? In any case, thank you for your inputs.

squidhouse ,squid are like sheep.....that is there is no plural for either. If you talk about 'sheeps' ,the Farmer's will know you're a greenhorn. It's the same with squid....

I wish you luck,I started sqidding just to get them for bait,now I just love it <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' />
