Japan Sea

Went out last night for the first time in a few weeks.



My local area has been pretty bad this year with poor water clarity and an over abundence of anglers.



Went up to Fukui on the Japan Sea.



Managed to get an 850g Calamari on my first cast. Egi was a Daiwa MD Squid Rattle Version Slow in pink with a marble base.



   





Kept trying but that was it for the calamari last night so I swithched to my ultra-light tackle and got 10 aji (Japanese Horse Makerel) on Gulp soft baits.

Cuttle breeding time is here in Sydney.Saw a dead one at Clifton Gardens last week-end,it was probably about 2kg,and unmarked so it didn't look as though it had been injured.

It's that time of year again. The baby Calamari are getting up to catching size now.



Went up to the Echizen coast last weekend with a couple of mates. Hundreds of little squidies in the water, most of them very interested in the jigs but only managed to hook 6. Kept 4 for dinner. Should be better in a couple of weeks.

The Mrs chopped them into rings and stir fried them with chinese cabbage, onions and garlic
