I don't like most of the egi rods, they are too long for my taste and often very costly. I use a slightly less than five foot long graphite (carbon fiber) rod that is designed for freshwater fishing such as trout and also not made to use more than six pound test. I did build it myself with a solid laminated wood reel seat which also helps to feel the light touch of a finicky squid. If an aggressive squid hits it the tip bends and recoils, almost hooking the squid without my having to strike. I also prefer to fish by feel rather than watch the squid attack my jig and strike.

K.O. what is the small jig fourth from the left, I haven't seen one, and I like to try every jig made.
K.O -- Walmart recently has been selling the rod I bought from Dicks. Â It is the super sensitive ugly stick GX2 rod 4'8". Â It is a one piece and very very sensitive. Â Try it out. Â Also, I prefer the Yozuri you have, the middle of the bunch of lures you displayed.

OneEyed, I can't remember how to get pics from my gallery into a post, but if you look at my gallery you will see a pink Yo-Zuri mini like KO shows but with a bigger keel. They are harder to find than the small keeled ones and I like the sink rate better. I am not sure about the other being a Yamashita since the keel doesn't look like the keels on my Yamashitas. I prefer the Yamashita Naory Range hunter or the RH series in 1.5B and 1.8B over most YoZuris with the 1.8Bs getting the most use. I do like the Yo Zuri Auri Q RS besides the larger keeled mini. Figured it out!

Went out on the Frances Fleet last night and unfortunately for those of us on board, a little over 30, it was the boat's least productive night of the season. To my knowledge no one caught more than 12-15 squid, many didn't catch any and I caught only two. I picked a bad night to go out on the boat, it was also my first night to squid fish from a boat. I have always fished from piers and docks in the past but because of limited time in New England this year I thought that I would try the "sure thing"! Oh well that's how fishing can be. I try some of my shore spots next week.

Alaskanaturally, that fish is bigger than human. What is the name of the fish?
I prefer 30 pounds salmon because it might be delicious.  Â

KO, it certainly was larger than Ruta. She's about 102 lbs that halibut was over 130. She caught the other one also, about 123 pounds. That day she got the two biggest fish on the boat. These are great eating as are the salmon.

These are the great from shore or bridge. You will catch with these when nothing else works!!!!!!!!
They are running pretty good Just be patient. Was ready to leave GI Wednesday after catching one big one in two hours and moving around everywhere. The next hour caught over 40. Glad I stayed!!!
Daiwa Interline emeraldas rod is the one for you! Equipped with a 500 or 1000 reel.

</ul>I always use 2, 2.5, and 3-inch jigs. It is most effective for squids in Rhode Island.
Last winter, I asked my Japanese friend to bring a size 3 squid jig of Yamashita. She brought this big jig. Japanese standard is different!
I might as well use this jig on last Friday and found that this big jig prevented small squids from approaching. Anyway, I will use small jigs next time.
And I want a sensitive rod! My Walmart rod is very tough, but I cant feel the squids. Other masters use very thin and delicate rods. Most important thing, I think, in squid fishing is how to feel squid. I will buy a new rod this weekend.

That huge trout (Salmon?) is excellent! Since Im Japanese, Ive only seen such a huge trout on TV. Thanks to you, Ill never forget the word midnight sun and clear night.
Gilligan--I think that hat will attract all the boys to the yard. Wow! Your jigs are on point! If you want to increase the weight, they sell the add on nose.
I personally prefer to just use a flat washer than using sinkers. It sinks at a better angle, cost less, and get stuck less.
K.O--yo-Zuri works best when you light them up after 3 - 4 casts. Crazy jigging to Minnick shrimp. Random jigging to mimick baitfish. Allow ample sink time between jigging for squid to take. Keep line tight and do 99% feel for bite. The 1% is auto hook set when you jig again.

You're absolutely right, most do not post and sometime they posted bogus info. You're eventually know who posts are creditable. I always trusted your posts and I will be Gillian's. He need more members like you guys.
