yeah i would not want to do that. im not really into striper that much here in NJ we get them all the time from early spring to late fall runs nothing new to me. but catching mackeral is rare espcially on land.

A STRIPPER dances around looking for perverts with phat pockets to prey on.
Big difference. Also, I don't know about the rest of you guys, but if I was squidding and someone intentionally caught a striper that then tangled everyones lines, i'd probably contemplate throwing said person off the bridge. LOL

Nothing at Goat Island yet ...
Went there last night (4/19) from 7pm-10pm .. nothing! .. windy ... cold .. and nothing ...
Water still cold .. hopefully in a bout a week.

Same news here. I spent a couple of hours on Saturday night. A few people trying their luck, but it's too early. It was a pretty night to be on the bridge never the less.
I hear Friday night drew a blank too.
This coming weekend may be the first realistic shot at seeing some action. Not much sun or warmer weather predicted until around Thursday though.
Can somebody get the city of Newport to sweep the sand off the sidewalk? It's kinda beach like right now.

Bwahahah i'm looking forward to meeting spawnle this year. I crack up everytime he hits on Travis' wife. Temps supposed to hit the 80s this weekend in CT. I'm sure they'll be up there in newport as well so hopefully this will give us a much needed temp boost...or if nothing else, make up for the drop we're likely to get from all this rain

I will probably be down that GI bridge sometime the first week of May. I am new to squidding so take it easy on me.
As for lighting, would a hand held spot light work?

It'd probably be a royal pain in the butt but i don't see why it wouldn't help.
I'm thinking my first trip up will be next weekend.

Me and the wifey are heading up on Saturday, maybe look for fish during the day and then squid at night. Now that I think of it, I have noticed her squinting a bit when we are watching the tube, so I think she just need glasses!
She comes down there with me almost every trip, she loves squidding!
