Hi Jason,

Have you tried to look on ebay? Ive seen people selling tinny on ebay for around $500 before, might be alright if its close enough for you to pick up <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' />

And what's that fat yo-zuri jigs you mentioned? I am curious -- are they the AORA jigs (which can fit a lightstick) ?

Good luck with your boat hunt!

Cheers,

Richard
Richard,

Thanks for the tip, I'll be keeping an eye out so I can target some of the bigger ones on a boat!

Umm.. I'm not quite sure of the name, I think the box is still in the boot of my brother's car, but here's a pic of what it looks like.

I think it's still one of those Oita Egi cloth jigs, but the body is fat and the sinker part is rounded. Anyway, it has been pretty good, seems to have a good sinking action.

Hi Jason,

Thanks for the picture! Being fat and heavy with good sinking actions sounded like the AORA jig, but doesnt look like it <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/zorro.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' /> That squid was sure hungry! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':thumbsup2:' />

btw, nice site! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/xyxthumbs.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':thumbsup2:' />

Guys,

Quick report on Port Hacking. Caught a few small squid with my mate during the day yesterday at about 3pm, including my first one on a day-time yo-zuri jig!

Squid seemed really timid though, could see them close up but reluctant to take the jig. Does any one know of any good spots to jig during the day? Also, I have read quite a few reports of squid at La Perouse. I went down the other week but couldn't find a suitable place to cast (land-based), as it was fairly rocky everywhere. Any tips guys?

Finished work early saturday so hit Laperouse for a squid session got down there around 2pm to fish the run up to high 4pm. didnt get a touch till after high tide just as the sun was going down I got a big hit <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ink' />

once i started winding the jig in I could feel it was a good one. Lucky i had my net with me as you wouldnt want to try to lift the larger ones up the bridge only to let it drop

Bare Island Laperouse

Gday Ben, lovely squid mate, you must have a long net, that bridge looks quite high above the water! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' /> Back when I staretd squidding I was mostly land based, never used a net, and used to lose at least 1 in 3 squid trying to lift them up.

Cheers Mate <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' /> cant wait to get back out for a squid session

Mate I have one of the nets which extend at full exstension I can just make it at high tide . I hope my next squid session will be of my kayak as the bridge can get a little hectic at times with allot of fisho's fishing for squid. Plus with the yak i hope to cover a little more ground

Cheers Mate . My plan is it stock up on some squidies for when the kingies start to fire up as this summer I want to target them plus I am keen to catch my second jewie of the beach so need to stock up
