Spearing Squid?

Hey, new to here and new to squiding.

been spearing for a year know and have been really keen to try squid spearing.

was wondering when the best times to do so would be and some of the better locations around the peninsula.

Ive tried looking a few times around rye and sorrento with no sight of the sly things

years ago we used to do some floundering at night around rye. we used to get heaps of squid coming up to the underwater light. they were a bit tricky to spear though
