Squid Jigs And Snap Clips
#1
Is using snap clips for squid jigs any good? Does it affect the way the jig swims? Is it better if I tie the jig directly on the leader? Any help would be great.

from my own personal opinion is that it makes no difference to action, the advantage of using them is that it makes swapping egis easier. i use decoy egg snap and evergreen ones.

Same experience here. You can swap around whatever lures you want with a snap clip which is very helpful when the squid are a bit finicky.

I agree but some people say it spooks the squid, my opinion is that it is exactly the same.

slayer, it doesn't spook the squid unless you use a massive coastlock with swivel or something like that. Breaden make a nice snap clip, it's small and easy to use and i have caught just as many squid with one as i have with tying the jig straight onto the leader.

I've just got some Decoy 00 size snaps for this exact reason. Well, that and breaming with HB's and blades lol. For me it was just to make changing jigs easier and to conserve leader material. If you don't snag up then you can happily run the one perfect length of leader all day.

I think snaps could be detrimental when the presentations are small, such as with smaller jigs. This is the same reason I avoid them with SP's, especially when you're using SP's around two inches long. It just doesn't look right IMO.

I'll still give it a shot though (with the smaller jigs, not SP's lol).
