Just got back from fishing this evening. Went to Bremerton first, wanted to check out the new fishing dock at the marina. VERY nice dock!!!! When we got there, we immediately saw some squid, however they weren't biting. We picked up 2 squid there in about 1.5hrs, we pulled up about 9:30 we were the only ones on the dock. Then we headed to the Waterman pier near Port Orchard, there was maybe 10 people there total, fairly slow but everyone was catching a few. I think I would have been better going to Des Moines.
Green seemed to be the best color. Squid were only average size, didn't see any Jumbo.

Bummer man.... I live in mill creek and have tried edmonds probably 5 times over the last two years and its has consistantly SUCKED. I dont know whats going on out there in the ocean but something isn't right. I mean how does this go from a good fishery, expecting 15-20 JUMBO squid EVERY time you would make the trip to now just praying that when you ge there you dont have to stand there for 3 hours for 2 squid. I have had much MUCH better success in seattle this year.I ran by edmonds three times this year and its been dead every time. I wouldnt even waste my time stopping by edmonds until I here that it is consistant there for a few nights, which has been years from what I understand. I hear a good report from out there and then 5-10 bad ones from some good sources. Kinda like playing russian roulette with 5 shells in the revolver instead of just 1. Seattle has produced far better for me over the last couple years. Anyone go down to seacrest or seattle?

i think if you had a portable underwater speaker and played orca whale sounds.i think the harbor seals would go away .or would that scare the squid to.? i know it would scare the hell out of the seals.killer whales feed on harbor seals.what do you think will it work.what about it guy from mill creek or anyone else

boy I bet it would work for the seals for sure... I was a sport fishing captain out of sitka alaska for 4 years and when the trollers were out salmon fishing some of them would have dummy orca fins on their spreader bars. it would give the look like a pod of orcas was following the troller, thus scaring seals. I dont know if squid hear or if they react to sound vibrations. Im sure they do to a certain point but would beinteresting to see if they would react or not to whale sounds. I know that the sound orcas emit scare the hell out of salmon. Still That would be a great experiment! Anything to get those buggers out of there!!!!

I heard you're allowed to shoot them with paintball guns from what somebody said on another forum. You might want to give that a try maybe ;x

you guys think its LEGAL to harass wildlife for sportfishing? I dont know call WDFW, and ask a game warden what he thinks and if he would write you a ticket if he saw you shooting a paintball gun at seals. Ive learned many good things from our beloved game wardens by a simple phone call! Either way I LOVE the idea but just dont see how it could be legal to harass any wildlife. Especially if they are protected.

<img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> the state has no say in it.noaa says its legal to use sling shot - paint ball guns - rubber bluets - seal bombs.the feds have the control not the state.and noaa says its legal as long as it doesn't penetrate the skin or kill .and i talked to a game warden about it he said noaa has the control not the state.look it up

Yeah not saying I'd ever do it, but I'm pretty sure it's legal to do it because a discussion got made about it when people were talking about seals eating the salmon once they got the salmon hooked out in the boats.

First of all, this is a squid fishing forum. We're not here to read about shooting the seals. To those who are concern, I've shot the seals with my paintball, sealbomb, slingshots, bb guns, airsoft guns before, and I've done so with the warden looking at me so that's that. I went out tonight to do some squid fishing. Got some really good size. Probably brought home a good five or six dozens worth of good eat'n squids. Gonna try it again tomorrow.
