If you can get out to New Harbor in Block Island there iis excellent squid fishing day and night right off the docks of the marinas. They've been catching all summer. Snaildarter

Has any one fished the fall season before? Is so, when are they on the move? Also, they must be much smaller than the spring, so are smaller jigs more appropriate?

KS, Personally, my season was slow and no - early season injury. But my Striper Cup team, took the cup this year. The party was yesterday. Now I'm just waiting for the wind to die down so I can go fisihng.

Hello all,

I tested the water at GI last sunday for squid, there are a few of them, they are small but good eating hehee, I used small half flow jig, it works fine. The best part about it, there are no one arround so i didn't push anyone down on water. Worst part about it, I wish I took my stuff with me so I can catch those blue (maybe bass), they are chasing squid like crazy.

Lastly: Anyone know where I can buy a whole sword fish? And what is the price/pound

Thanks,

Spawnle

sure you can eat a whole sword fish? my brother caught one once and it took us about 6 months to finish it. needless to say we were sick of eating fish after that!

Hi Glen,

I thought it would be cheaper if I can buy a whole fish, mate. I will share with many families so I won't eat it twice. Someone, somewhere in New England would know where to buy one. :-)

Thanks,

best bet would to hit the docks in new bedford, gloucester. try to find a long liner coming in. I doubt they would sell a whole fish to you for less then market value since it would be money out of their own pockets. might be cheaper to charter a boat and go catch one yourself if you need the whole fish.

Spawnle, Try cape Quality Seafood in Dartmouth they are the retail outlet of Bergies in New Bedford. Youcould try calling Bergies but getting them on the phone is tough - theyv;e usually each got a few line going . If you watch "Swords" it's on eof the houses where they offload.. I sell my fish there. I tell you to use my name but they won't know who the $&*($& you're talking about.
