Will most likley be heading to the Greenport docks Friday night April 30. I'm thinking this weekend is too soon for the run to start (if there is a run at all this year), unless anyone has heard otherwise. Anyone know if the power is on at the marina docks?

Strolled down to the dock yesterday...empty empty empty....only the Predator sat tied up..I am not sure if there is power down there yet either.

Is the squid fishing off of Greenport usually decent? I keep my boat in CT and I'm thinking about making the run over there. Is it possible to anchor up by the docks and catch squid from a boat?

The squid fishing has been terrible in Greenport the last two years. But the two years before that were outstanding. So who knows what this year will bring.

Yes, some boats come and anchor off of the docks. You just need to be careful not to anchor in the path of the Shelter Island ferry! But I've definitely seen boats drop anchor and use underwater lights and/or their spreader lights. The public marina in Greenport is usually empty at this time so you might even be able to just pop into a slip, hop out and squid off the dock if you wanted. Don't quote me on that though...

I heard from local tackle shop and comm dragger that squid are here. But whether they can be jigged up on the dock that's another story.

Anybody try??

The comm guys did, one in Mattituck(blue moon) and one in Hamptons. They selling fresh caught squid in Farmers Market near my work place. They had some small squid mixed in, perfect for fluking come May 1.

I've heard nothing except what's on this message board. Was going to call Wego tomorrow to see if they had any news. Either way, I'll be there tomorrow night giving it a shot with two friends. Anyone know if the power stations on the marina docks have power? If so, that's where we'll be.
