Yeah there was a few good size schools down there last night Mug, definitely allot around. I was tempted to head back down your way tonight but I'm heading down to my local areas, I'll probably head down on Tuesday or Thursday or maybe both lol...

i went to the anaconda at logan... but umm, to be honest, i was a little surprised at the range... it was squite small... lol.. all they had was yozuri... and yeah, the colour size and variety wasnt all that much.... i was expecting alot more...

it was a very slow night 2nite.... conditions were far from ideal with strong winds causing very wavy conditions at the harbour... water was very murky and didnt manage to spot a single squid though had 2 squid lunge at my jig on 2 separate occasions.... even the great man himself, paul "ru 12 mug", only managed to bag 3.... now if he only bags 3, then the rest of us would have no chance lol

thought id venture beyond manly and into unchartered territory! haha.... it was an interesting night, i started off on the jetti intially, but the wind was way too strong and decided to hit the rockwalls where the calmer water was.... water there seemed to be relatively clean/clear and within afew mintues, the first squid was spotted.... throughout the nite, the squid were literally right at my feet, however, the area i was squidding at was pitch black n i couldnt see where i was casting... i did manage to get one hooked, but as i was walkin closer towards the water, it let go! the squid in the area did seem smaller in comparison the the squid at manly, but the numbers were good though.... all in all, i ended the night with a BIG FAT ZERO =(



its definitely a spot id try again, but ill come better prepared next time... ie, a brigbter flashlight and a landing net....

the night started off very very slow regardless of the water conditions being next to perfect.... there was next to no wind at the harbour and water was almost crystal along the rock wall, sadly i couldnt say the same about the water clarity along the esplande, water conditions there were far from clear to say the very least.... alot of ppl were out from both squidnet as well as brisbane egi club! it was nice to bump into yous guyz again (joel, andy and allan).... its always good to watch yous in action and for me to steal afew techniques here and there hehe <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />



anyways, it seemed that prime time 2nite was just before high tide peaked.... conditions were still perfect for squidding during this time and this was wen all my squid were caught... i managed 4 in roughly 30 mins.... which set a new PB for me 2nite for the most squid in one night.... ALSO, another PB was set for the biggest squid caught by myself... im not too sure how much it weighed, but dimension wise, it was definitely the biggest ive ever caught <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ink' /> ..... after my 4th squid was caught 2nite, i was feeling pretty good and thought id smash my previous PB of 3 squid in one session.... BUT, conditions were quick to change, and within minutes, wind within the harbour picked up considerably, which resulted in the water surface becoming quite wavey making the squid hard to spot..... the squid that were spotted after that, seemed to be quite shy and unwilling to lunge at my jig.... mayb the motion of the ocean has alot to do with the squids hunting behaviour??? again, my orange yozuri jig seemed to work best for me 2nite....











soo, just to recap, 2nites total is 4... which brings my overall total for this season up to 10! YAY!

Not much chance of hooking him.

Water clarity was absolutely terrible.

It was like fishing in chocolate milk.

Had a look for you out on the point about 10.30 but couldn't see you.

How did you do ?



Went out in the boat this morning to the outside of the harbour but did see or hook one squid.

Got about 20 yellowtail pike that we will use for bait when we go up fishing the reef later this year.



That torch you had was damn impressive.

Where would I buy one like that ?

by the time I got round to the harbour every one had cleared out for the night and I picked up a couple out the front of the carpark and one along the path wich took my score for the night to 15.

had a couple of good sessions this week at night 20 , 15 , 1 , 15 =51 for the week so now the freezer is looking healthy again.

haha.... joel, its BEVAN! haha.... all good.... yeah, i was at the point where i pumped into paul... didnt have much luck out there as it was quite wavy, ended up with a big fat ZERO! haha



oh? its unfortunate that yous didnt catch anything saturday morning.... id love to fish for squid on a weedbed, its sumthing different compared to fishing for them off a rockwall or structure....



umm, if ur interested, my torch could b up for sale if the price is right, i recieved it the thursday that just passed.... i have an invoice to prove date of purchase as well as amount, its a LED Lenser P14.... its by far the most impressive light ive ever owned, but for the price i paid ($120), i could see that being spent on more jigs/other stuff.... i can promise u that ull never have another problem spotting squid if you have this bad boy! haha

Sorry mate , I know it's Bevan and I've always called you Bevan when we meet.

Fishing out of the dinghy was a change from chasing squid off the shore but results were very disappointing.

Catching the pike was an absolute hoot.

We were using small lead slugs , floating hardbodies and soft plastics and were sitting that close to the end of the rock wall I could have put a lure up on the rocks.

The small floating hardbodies were the best fun.

Slow twitched the lures across the surface and the pike would come rocketing up from underneath and fly through the air either with the lure in their mouth or just miss it completely.

Jeff and I were in stitches laughing at their antics <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':o' /> and spent 10 minutes just watching a guy catch them off the rocks.

He was winding his lure as fast as he could, it looked like a surface popper and they must have been pushing each other out of the road to strike at the lure.

Could have caught hundreds but we just took about 20 for bait next time we go up the reef fishing.

its been a while since my last post, but im please to announce that my presences will b felt for another year where ever squid may lurk! haha.... though id update my blog with yet another adventure out on the harbour... it was my first squidding expedition for year 2011 and i must say things were VERY SLOW! condition were far from perfect with strong winds causing terrible visibility below the water surface... didnt manage to spot a single squid infront of the boat house or along the esplande and ended up takin a seat on a bench and enjoying the rest of the afternoon with a nice coastly breeze... needless to say, things will start pickin up slowly over the next month or 2... will report back again after my next trip...



hope to see some of the old faces out there again.... SEE YOU ALL SOON!!! =D
