Rhode Island Squid Fishing Seminar
#1
I found this in the most recent copy of the RISAA (Rhode Island Saltwater Anglers Association) newsletter booklet.

I picked up a copy at the Saltwater Sportsman seminar held recently at the Mohegan Sun.

RISAA Monthly Seminar - 7:00 p.m (two speakers)

Dave Fewster: Squid Fishing Strategies, Locations & Tips

John Skinner: Bucktail Strategies From Surf & Boat

Monday April 36th at 7pm

If I remember I'll try to bump this again early next month for anyone that is thinking of going.

Thanks for the tip.

But I never knew the month of April was so long. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ink' />

Is it really the 26th? or 16th...?

Nevermind. I just checked the calendar. The 26th is a Mon. Must be that.

TWO SEMINAR TOPICS TONIGHT!

Squid Fishing

Strategies, Locations and Tips

with

Dave Fewster

Dave Fewster has been one of the top anglers in RISAA for many years. Though not a tournament competititor, everyone knows him as a "fish hard, fish often" type who can be found on the shore, Bay or ocean - day or night - throughout the entire year.

"Success comes to those who put the extra effort in," says Dave, and that means catching his own supply of local squid each year.

In this seminar he will discuss the changes in seasonal squid patterns. Squid used to arrive in local waters in April, but in recent years, the time has changed to later in the spring, even to the end of June.

Dave will also talk about boat and shore locations for catching squid in the Bay and on the South Shore. He's discuss the rigs and tackle he uses.

He will also give ideas on how to use lights to attract squid at night, including info on small generators and flood lights.

Bucktail Strategies From

Surf and Boat

with

John Skinner

John is the long-time Surf Fishing Columnist and former Editor-in-Chief of Nor’east Saltwater Magazine. In addition to his weekly surf column, he has written many articles for Nor’east Saltwater and On the Water magazines. He is the author of the book "A Season on the Edge" and a contributing writer to the book "The Hunt For Big Stripers." He is also a frequent speaker at outdoor shows.

John has a well-earned reputation as a consistent producer of trophy stripers from Long Island beaches. He holds the current New York State false albacore record. When not plying the beaches, he can often be found in his boat or kayak, or scuba diving with his son in Long Island Sound.

John’s seminar will concentrate on targeting stripers with bucktails. The main focus will be on the beaches, but some time will also be devoted to bucktailing from boats in areas of heavy current.
