Hey fellas
Um, I don't have a GPS, but I can tell you that we were only fishing maximum 6-700m from the pier, mostly towards the left (at least that's where we got most of the big fellas) and we just drifted around until we found the patches. As for the magic oil.....it was my birthday on Friday, and I think I had some birthday luck! The last two times we have gone to Flinders we only got 2 X 2kg, and then 3 @ 1, 2 and 3kg, so I think that it is just the luck that you have on the day. My biggest piece of advice....you have to fish 1m from the bottom, or don't bother. You'll get some snags, but if you use heavy enough line (we had 30kg handlines) you won't lose many jigs. Also, quite strangely, we got the biggest one on an artificial jig (3.0 pink), so I think that if you're fishing on the bottom you're in with a good chance whether you're using artificials or baits.
Seriously, I hope that you guys get on to some, it's absolutely amazing to get on to the real big guys, and something I won't forget in a long time.
