Good report, nice you got some sambos at least. The squid at Apollo Bay can be very frustrating, sometimes they're there, sometimes they're not, sometimes they're tiny (10-15cm), sometimes they're MASSIVE, and sometimes even when they're there (you can see them in the water) they won't take any kind of jig or bait you throw at them. But it's always worth a crack because when they're 'on' the action can be fast and furious. Other things to watch out for in the harbour are the schools of big barracouta, and also there are usually always some trevally about (best bait for the AB trevs is cray tail).
