hi Al
On the subject of bait or lures it always pays to have both in the water but from my limited expirience at Flinders I found that baited jigs where better by far but that can change in an instant with squid, they might go for bait one night and lures the next.
I have found Flinders to be a very unpredictable place to fish it might be hot one day and stone cold the next as far as squidding goes and I have found the Bellarine Penninsula more reliable and consistant as far as peir fishing goes for squid.Although both are as good as each other if you have a boat
On the subject of the diver you should have gaffed him and filletted him on the peir LOL <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/xyxthumbs.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' /> <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/xyxthumbs.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/xyxthumbs.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
