Hi Glen,

Just wanted to share our squiding experiences with you. We are relative new comers to squiding, and have been hitting the local piers pretty hard in the last few weeks without much success. We took advantage of the beautiful weather on Saturday 27th August 2005 to try our luck from a tandum ocean kayak...

Launched from the beach at Tootgarook (opposite Truemans Rd) roughly an hour before high tide and went out about 300m to about 10m of water.

Threw in pink and orange jigs, and we managed 9 small to medium sized calamari in about an hour and a half! The orange jig was by far the most successful, landing 7.

This is a great website, its great to hear from others that fish down our way. A big thanks to Wes...after reading his comments from the Safety Beach area we went out and purchased an orange jig. It will be the first that we throw in on our next trip (hopefully next weekend weather permitting!).

Cheers,
