Well September is almost upon us, Finals Fever has sprung and love is in the air LOL. Going by the reports of the last week the big spawners have entred the bay

reports of squid in the 2 kilo range are coming in from both Queenscliff and Flinders the two most favored spots for squidders both boat and landbased.

But good catches of squid where reported right through out PPB this year and now its time for the big spawners to enter the bay to lay their eggs and then go into a feeding frenzy.

So it time to vist Kmart or BigW for some new Jigs mantels kerosene line reels food bait and other squid related paraphanalia and get to hitting the piers and dropping in some great reports. Sponsors well come :blink:

Hi there,



Fished queenscliff bight on Sat morning and was very impressed, average size was about 2.5 to 3kg with a few smaller ones later on. Lost the biggest one at the boat <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/oops.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' /> easy 4+ kg.

The trick is to get out early and be fishing on daybreak before the influx of other boats arrives and scares the squid. 80% of fish caught were before 8am. Also interesting to see that people are still in the "no-fish" zones near point londsdale, obeying the laws are usual.

Once again fresh baits produced the goods. It's great to see the squid have taken off early and are of a decent size. Can't wait for the next couple of months.



let's hope the snapper are like this, this time next month :-)

4KGs thats one big squid pitty you lost it



Yep your in the right place for this time of year and with the good nubers of squid will come good snapper



The idea with fishing the bight is to stop about 150 metres off shore and drift in with the tide then motor back out again probaly pick up seven or eight squid in one drift as long as you have a rising tide here you will catch squid anytime of the day and I have caught them fishing from the beach too

. another good spot is directly under the lighthouse Ive pulled some rippers out of there during the day both from beach and boat and also near the pilots jetty.

Strange thing is that while this area can be on fire the peir can go for weeks without producing much then suddenly for about three to four weeks its non stop squidding with some absolute rippers being taken
