Gday Fatboi, I don't want to give away too much, but it's in between Mordialloc and Seaford - so yes a boat would help. But Mordi Pier should be seeing some squid at the next new moon (it's half full now on it's way to full, so it'll be a while). The squid I was getting (aside from the one in the pic) were not that much bigger than what you describe at Mornington, maybe 15 cm hoods?
