im in NJ also I know this is old post but yeah I use to catch  small squid at Belmar Marina but not a lot only 2- 3.  catch a lot more on the boat if you just happen to run into them just outside the shark river inlet.  if you looking to catch them on land you need to head up north like RI or MA.Â
