You can only see rough water from the Harborview if it's blowing east or especially northeast. You cannot see Nantucket sound from the hotel and the harbor is well protected from the south and west. I used to mate on a charter boat out of Edgartown, often it was beautiful leaving the harbor but once we got out around Chappaquiddick and into the sound the water was pretty rough.
