You may get inky since you will be landing the squid close to the water but you will definitely cover more ground than standing on a dock. If it were me, I'd go out looking for them and return to find they clobbered them at the dock.
 

 

hmm do you know any places that you think would be safe?  i may just try something out near hyannis or the cape and see what i can find
