Last year I had first sight squid on April 29, 2011, the water temperature was 52.9F, it was a crescent moon. One of my buddies got two, we stayed for about 2 hrs and didn't see them come througn anymore.
I've been tracking the water temperature and moon phase because I've been told that these are the factors that determine when squid will come - just like the post about the cherry blossoms - just trying to see which theory is more accurate and maybe I won't have to go down there each night to check if they're in or not.
On May 4, 2011, the water temperature was around 53.9f degrees and that's when I started to catch them, I'll probably start checking around 52f degrees water temp., we'll see if this theory will hold true for this year, I will keep you posted.
