Squids can be caught at practically anytime of the day. Be it day or night, high tide or low tide. We go squid fishing anytime of the day without looking at tides. Its kind of funny at times because we usually hear about squids in deeper waters. But my personal experience is that I had caught 1+kg Squids in less than 0.5m of water depth.
Initially when I started eging (squid fishing), anglers used to mock at me for trying to fish for squids during the day, but when I started pulling squids out of the water, they have nothing else to say.
With regards to colours, there isn't a specific colour to use at a specific time. But as a general rule when they are lazy and cautious, red belly works best. When they are in a frenzy, Pink/Orange with Rainbow Belly works well. During sun rise and sun set. Golden belly works well.
The use of Natural Awabi Flashing Sheets helps in improving catch rates too,
