Where's all the reports from GI? This thread is dead!
I'm heading up to the bridge tomorrow night with a buddy of mine for his first ever squid trip. If anyone is going to be up there, come say hello. I'll be the 6'2 big guy w/ goatee probably on the hyatt side of the bridge.

Hey fluke your coming up from CT right? Might want to rethink your trip. Heres my report, I just got back. Fished from 9:30pm-4:40am
First stop GI for 2hrs it was DEAD..maybe 5 cars there. Only seen about 2 medium size squids brought up, fishing with no light. I got zero
Second stop FT Adams for 1hr..seen 2 lights from the docks. I went straight to the end of FT Adams, facing Newport bridge. Didn't see anyone pull anything up. No sign of squids, only bait.
Third and final stop FT Wetherill. Place was packed with cars. very slow, the whole time I was there, seen about maybe 15 squids pulled up. All medium to small. I caught my only two there, also caught a 21" bluefish around 3am. I really didn't see what people was catching the squid on. Only seen that their jigs was small, maybe 2.5 to 2.0 size jig. I was using a 2.5 size jig I bought from Ebay.
My thoughts since the wind was blowing from the west. Which made for some pretty choppy waters at GI and FT Adams. Some of the squids went to hide out at FT Wetherill. Since over there gave protection from the wind and the waters was really super calm.
This was my last trip for squid till next year. Your best bet for squid if your going to come up, try FrancesFleet. From their reports, people seem to walk away with anywhere from 1/4 to a full bucket. GL to anyone who is going to try this weekend. Time to put my sights on the bigger fish.
