It's is my opinion that the construciton was not planned and is to discourage people form squidding. I would love to see the department of public works reason (civil engineering) for alterations. This type of construciton is either planned well ahead of time or in the event of an inspeciton faliure.
Is there a posting stating the construciton duration?
Thanks for the pictures. I was going to jig this week end for the first time this season but now I wonder if it will be worth the trip. That's a lie I love visiting Newport anytime of year.
I believe Newpowrt's reaction to fishing on the brigde stems from the few that litter and do not respect the town and it's traditions. I could relate to the locals and their conerns about cleanliness on the bridge.
I commend those of you who have made efforts to clean up after others. Several of us bring trash bags to pick up garbage left by others.
If you look at the big picture the majority of squidders aren't adding $ to the local economy.
I wil adimit I spent plenty of $ at the local taverns within walking distance of the bridge.
im sure they set at a public town meeting to discuss the issue and said 'lets do bridge repair to keep those pesky squidders away'
I'm pretty sure the bridge repair is not out to get the squidders.
no conspiracy here. just general upkeep to keep they city by the sea beautiful and people bringing their money back again and again. just bad timing
