[quote name='nala' post='17021' date='Dec 8 2009, 07:28 PM']Went to Flinders 5th / 6th Dec. Got about 11 decent sized Calamari for the two days. Dropped about 6 others due to light hook ups and one net f@*k up. Lots of good squid getting caught.
Baited Jigs were the go. Had a mate in a Kayak out the end of the pier (300+ metres out) and he picked up 3 good squid, drifting jigs in a short time.
Best times were 2 hours after the tide change from low to run in high. Close to high tide being the best.
We fished the morn (5am) - arvo (2pm). Not the night.
On Sunday as we arrived, we saw a guy pulling in a huge occy. The head was the size of a big grapefruit, it was very, very pissed off.
Also tried Portsea over the two nights got zip. I am taking portsea off my 'places to go for squid' for the time being, too many people and no squid.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,

Awesome report. I need to get my rear-end in shape and get going as I haven't been lately. Although last time while rock pool jumping at Sorrento back beach we spotted a huge occy in a crevice at low tide.
