how are you?
I think there are some squids at Beaumaris Pier, I saw few inks on the pier.
Was there around 4 till 6pm, got nothing and find it is a bit hard to fishing squid.... the jog alway hooked the seabed. it was windy.. a bit rain...
but it was productive for fishing.. saw 2 decent size of snapper. and 1 larger snapper was hooked... 50 to 60cm long...
and 1 Ray( skate)? was hooked... almost 1 metre wide...[/quote]
Hey thanks for the info. I've had a bad cold this week so I've been staying in the warm. I like to cast my jig out off the end of the pier on the...............erm.......East side (Mentone side!!). There are often squid out away from the pier and a slow retrieve often works for me. Plus the weed is less of a problem. That area is really bad after a storm as far as weed goes. It can eat jigs very quickly! Also try using a squid float. You can also use a surf rod to cast far out off the end where there is a shelf often loaded with pinkies!
