lol thats a good motto! speaking of fishing innovations. was on ebay again... i swear its addictive and was looking at fish finders, not looking to buy or anything just looking and they have some portable ones for about $30. they also have ones that you connect directly to your rod. they could be useful as they are connected to a cable which has a float on the end which is connected to your fish-finder. i think that would be useful for fishing snags, etc.

Matey, you have to ask yourself, why is this so cheap (does it work)? Also how many lines, cables, floats etc do you want in the water which are all tangle hazards? But you're probably like me and get excited when you see something new. A forgivable failing...Arggh.

I buy me gear at Kmart (limited range but improving), Ray's (more range, but a little pricey) and a speciality fishing store called JM Turville (massive range, new stuff, good fishin' knowledge but not cheap).

rays often have sales where the fishing gear is 20-30% off. its worth keeping an eye out. if you sign up for their junk mail they will let you know when the sales are on.

jazman. would you reccomend getting the 'berkley powerbait realistix' as they have some good deals on ebay. Im assuming these lures have the minnow style tails as opposed to the grub style tales. please if you could reply by tonight that would be great as they auction ends tomorow. sorry about such short notice.

The Berkley Realistix have more realitic features than the regular power minnows - the tails are the same. Foir example, the realistix minnows have realistic eyes, compared to the power minnows that have no eyes at all. I have some 2" realistix minnows in pumpkinseed that I haven't used yet, but a friend swears by the 3" realistix pumpkinseed minnows for pinkies. If they are cheap, get em! (You would expect to pay around $10 a packet normally)

I hope you were quick enough to get the listing that ended this morning. 6 packs for $20.50 plus about $5 postage seems a good deal, if they are around $10 a pack.







The auction thats ending tomorrow seems to be around this price already, and would most likely go up. This seller seems like hes got quite a few lots so its probable that another lot will come along that you can bid on if this one does go up too high.

YAY!!! i won the auction the package was $28 plus $5 P/H.

i'm still not convinced of the whole soft plastics thing. and to be honest i'm a little scared of trying them. i honestly have no idea how your meant to fish with them.

Arrgh, Ye done well laddie, and they be all the deadly colours. Now just get some jigheads and yer set to go. I would go fer 2H hooks in 1/8 or 1/11.



Don't be forgetin' to seal yer zip-lock bags laddy, or the plastics will lose ther scent and go hard.

i forgot i also bought some jigheads too...

they are home made i think but they look good quality and they are made on gamakatsu chemically sharpened black nickel hooks #1/0. they are 1/8 ounce and costed me $10 for 20 of them.

Good purchasing, the jigheads are a great size for those plastics. Maybe consider getting some jigheads with #2 hooks as well - they will also match the plastics well, and give you a better chance of hooking smaller fish if they're about.



I recently got some 3" minnows in pearl olive, never used that colour before, I'll give it a crack tomorrow and let ya know how I go.

ok awesome. good luck mate! let me know how they go. are the 3 and 4 minnows small enough for bream? have you ever fished near the mussel farm at mentone/beauy?

The 3" minnows are ok for bream, 4" might be getting a little big. Wriggler style SPs (the ones that look like a grub with a curly tail) are very good for bream.



I've never actually fished at the mussel farm, but have fished a lot up the bay a bit towards Beaumaris and Black Rock. It's great SP territory (just make sure you stay out of the marine park <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> ). I've caught snapper, flathead, snook, pike, red mullet, squid, octopus, barracouta, salmon and silver dory on 3" Berkley minnows around that area. You do need a boat though (from the waters edge out to about 300m offshore is the marine park, clearly marked by yellow buoys and marker poles - so fishing from the shore is not allowed). Also, be prepared to lose a few jigheads, it's a pretty snaggy bottom.

poodge ive bought a set of those jigheads but in the 2/0 hook very good jigheads ive matched them up 2 gamakatsus ive got and the only difference is the lead. so great buy alot cheeper than the originals.
