razorback jigs
#21
check out how this squid grabs the jig, if retreived slow enough I think they might go for the middle of the body, if you retreived fast then they slide down to the rear barb's,,,,,,,,,, Pete.

I won't argue with that!!! Many of the squid that I see that are in a feeding mode will grab and hold a small baitfish from the middle. This makes sense, as if the squid wants to be able to hold onto it's prey, it's best chance is taking it in the middle where it can wrap around it better.

Although about the razorback jigs, I don't think it makes that much difference. Once the squid grabs the jig, just takes a little jerk to slide through the tentacles and snagged by the hooks????

bought 2 razorback jigs at the 4x4 outdoor and fishing show on friday her ein melbourne and noticed that they are now made in Vietnam and also look a damn site cheper jig than they used too,...

the original razorback i had bought years ago looked a hell of a lot better than what they are pumping out of the factory these days <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/crying.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

I think I saw those jigs you're talking about AK, they did look a bit scrappy. I personally don't really like razorbacks. What did you think of the rest of the show? There was a whole heap of poor quality gear, brand names like 'Golden' that I'd never heard of, but there was some good stuff mixed in with it. I bought some hooks, a pair of sunnies, and a subscription to that new Victorian Fishing Monthly magazine, it looks good. I also saw Merv Hughes learn to cast with an overhead reel! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

The "new" ones look very scrappy...

Didn't see any of the show, headed down friday arvo and helped out at the fishnet stand for a few hours and then ducked across to the "sydney mob" and bought a small Shimano JHX2000 reel and a couple of squid jigs <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />

I dont really like the original razorbacks, but my preference is for the Nipper Prawn ones (dont know who makes them) - i think the ones with the hooks on the backs are called prickly prawns..........
SA - the land of the bigger fish. The fish on the east, measure the least, but if you head west, you'll be bringing in the best!!
