Saturday Sept 22, around 11pm

came from mornington, walked the length and had a few quiet old asian guys keeping quiet and staying to themselves. only 8 ppl on the pier when i got there, most left in the hour i hung around, hardly a good feed between them

the tide was low and water calmer and cleaner than mornington. small school fish around a few of the pylons but i was just toying with my 2.5 pink jig for a while, hoping for some luck.

no joy. picked up a pizza half way to mordialloc, had a feed and tried my hand there
Never happier than on a quiet pier, on a cold, dark, wet night, with a bucket to sit on, pole in hand and a fully charged iPod.

I'm guessing you were probably near the start of the pier. The old guys were sitting quietly on the jetty way down the end of the pier

and didn't wanna talk <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' />

I think I'll be down there on Sunday evening if nothing's happening at Mordialloc.

Staff member Jarrod Day fished with charter boat operator Craig Seignor in 21m of water on Thursday morning. The boys landed 12 snapper to 3kg on 110mm Evil minnow flick baits on ¼ ounce jig heads. They also snagged some nice salmon to 800g and good calamari on Hyabusa jigs.

Quote:FRANKSTON TO MT MARTHA:

Paul has received a few reports that there is plenty of calamari between these areas. Drifting in 3 to 4 metres of water seems to be the go, over heavy weed growth. Anglers using small size 2.5 squid jigs have had most success. Last week I had success with the plumb Hayabusa jig in much the same areas.

Always remember that a bad days fishing is better than a good day being dead...or working..........its all an adventure mate!

Quote:FRANKSTON:

There have been calamari still in good numbers around the Oliver's Hill area. 2-3 meters of water has been the most productive depth to find them and on the top of the high tide.

Natural coloured jigs are working very well in the 2.5 and 3.0 sizes.
