brighton has piked up again in the arvos but need to work hard for the squid, seems they are not coming to shore in pods (large groups) only coming as a pair or single so need to walk the pier or rocks alot to find the squid.

anyone got any special lures or plastics they use of the salmon from landbased?
seems they have joined the squid in spot black..

A mate and I were able to collect two tonight about 15m short of the second shelter, although only one made it into the bucket, the other one managed to 'catch and release' itself. A couple of blokes down further were using the LED flashing jigs, I was slightly satisfied to see them not bringing anything up with them.

We were not using the LED jig but the Yamashita EGI-O Q KOGU squid jig glow. Normally works very well but no lucky today after dark. Got a good size one right before the dark.

Got absoloutely nothing at Brighton last night between 7.45-9.15. Three of us were cast on both sides, trying all different lures. I would've thought it was a great night for fishing, the water was glass and it wasn't too cold at all. However, put that in the learning curve basket.
Pity, the pier was empty apart from us and two others. Had a good chat with a young bloke about squidding though, would've been better had I some to go home with though.
