I saw this guy have 3 rods and he was catching left and right .. he had a rod holder attach to the bridge and keep moving back and forth with them, it was fun to see, but I was so tired so I head home. .. already got my sunday plan out <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':zorro:' />

Yup, there was the learning curve of catching the squid this year .. it was odd ... after learning it with trail and error you can easily get the squids to bite ...

tym1/mrboston: did you guys catch it on the bridge or at the cove ?

p.s: I got PM that ask for pix, for those who doesn't believed squid are a month late ...
Take a lucky guesss. JK.. We caught them on the bridge but the squid was pretty much every where, just gotta know how to make them take your jig.

Would you mind sharing this tecnique with the rest of us?

I brought a generator down there last nite, set it up and sat there for hours and didn't get a single squid. I had two pink and one phosphorescent jig on my line.

Saw quite a few squid and watched them attack the sand eels swimming around in the light but caught nothing <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/crying.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':zorro:' /> .

Brad
I am taking it the squid are still in. I am going to try to hit up GI tomm night, is it still worth going or has the season passes

Update:

Was there last night ... lots of squids ... at the cove and on the bridge ...

Friend of mine got 1/2 bucket.... since I don't have 'treble hooks' but still managed to get 25 squids.

The key is 'treble hooks' on the bridge.
Surprised to hear they are coming heavy right now. I was at Hyannis on porgy trip and the capt said the commerical just started getting them at Yarmouth with the saying "they started coming in now". Keep us posted on the GI, maybe I will come this week.

Besides the magic "treble", anyone tried a net (long-handled net or castnet)?
Hi, I've been waiting all year for this kind of report. Would someone please give me driving direction from I-95 to GI. I am coming from NYC and planning a take a day off from work to do a all nighter squid fishing marathon. With the price of gas these days, I have to make this trip worthwhile. Will be bringing my generator and 2x 500watt lamp.

If you have GPS, search this thread for the coordinates (I list it there a few weeks back). If you don't, google maps is your friend
We would have had maybe another bucket if I got with the program with the learning curve earlier. I've said the whole night either a bucket or bust! and I can happily say me and 1tym accomplished this last night/morning. People around us were starting to call 1tym the squid king LOL, I mean who has the skills to catch squid with two rods at one time!?! My bet was we probably caught at least 200 squid, Most squid was on the smaller side thats why I think there was more than the usually estimate on a full bucket, but we did manage some nice largers ones here and there. Nice meeting you Somerville Squidman!
Hey, it was nice to meet you guys too. You two looked pretty impressive out there with that technique. Thanks to 1tym for the jigs too. I'm thinking about trying them out tonight or sometime soon. Maybe we'll see you guys down there sometime. Take it easy.
Gonna put the boat in tonight, head towards Pt. Judith. Snaildarter you headed out tonight? Will post when I return

I was at the wall by the yellow ladder where guys usually set up their generators. I thought about going to the bridge but I couldn't see a parking spot at that end. The gen. was too heavy to carry all the way down there and I didn't have my Coleman lantern with me.

I'm thinking abgout buying a kid's wagon for next year so I can move the generator around better.

Brad
I was at the wall by the yellow ladder last Saturday night with my generator. There were other generators on either side of me too... I did horrible that night. catching only 3 =[

Squids didn't like my 3.5inch yozuri's. Others people have wicked small jigs and did extremely well.

What's this technique everyone is talking about? is it really just snagging them with treble hooks? or is there a song and dance you have to do to entice them?
Did anyone try squidding the new moon last night? Traditionally the day before and after are killer nights for fishing. Considering dusting of the jigs and giving it another try this season.

Tatonka.

Last night, I went to Sakonnet Point ... nothing ...

Tatonka, let me know if you get anything ....
Put in at Pt Judith around 2030, Hammered the squid till about 0100, then the bight died with the tied, Stayed out until about 0230. Picked up about 25 # total 3 guys about 3 hours. That was my last trip for squid. Are you guys going to keep the forum updated with other goins on or is it just Squid Talk?
It was slowwwwwwwwwww. wwwww.. i quit..

20-30 squid.. but tedious..

One good (for this season) day and I am gonna leave it at that =)

Imma wait for the runn a little closer to home.

Most people on the bridge had a 1/4 bucket? dont know if they were sharing buckets.. few guys had 1/2-3/4 buckets.. but.. the question is how big was their bucket? or rather pails =O
Looks like its going to be pretty nice on the water this weekend. Good luck out there, Eatfish
Any report from last night? I might be there tomorrow night. Is this year water temp pretty low compared to last couple years?
Was there last night and very embrassed to say that I've only caught one squid for 3 hours of driving from NYC. Most guys on the bridge manage about 1/4 bucket full of squid. The squid are very line shy, you had to work really hard to entice them to bite. I think my 3.5 Yorzhori jig was too big. There's definately a special technique to entice them, the guy next to me outcatch me 10:1, just couldn't figure out what he was doing special. Anyways, that's the end of my squidding adventure for this year. BTW, the only thing that made the 3hr drive worthwhile was the short stop to Foxwood on the return trip - made out with $300 at the poker table.
