Newbie wants to make friends
#1
I'm trying to make efforts to begin leading the kind of life I want, so here goes:

I'm a recently arrived Yank from SF, married to an Aussie lass (my best catch ever). I'm interested in making friends that can help me get into fishing and squid fishing. I'm 45 years old, sensible, and willing to help pay my way -- with either work, cash or beer. I do not have any poles or anything at the moment, but am open to buying things I will use. I'm also into knee boarding, body surfing and general surfing. Interested in free diving in the bay for abalone. Pretty much up for adventure and want to maximise my enjoyment of Port Phillip Bay and Vic.

I have been fishing before in the US, although my friends were more into it than I. In CA, my wife and I owned a Zodiac (and a Hobie Cat before that) and love boats, love water...

If there are any fishermen out there looking for a fishing mentee/student/pupil/follower -- please consider me.

Fell free to respond with any advice on how to begin becoming a capable bay & beach salt-water fisherman.

If you've outgrown any decent fishing gear, I also may be interested in buying used gear off of you.

THANK YOU.
