Puget Sound, WA (2011 Season)
Someone at 86 was telling me they were doing okay over at Cedarcrest! This is only word of mouth so no body can blame me if they go out and get skunked!
Anyone had any luck around shilshole area? been thinking of giving it a try. It seems like most people mention squiding from a-dock but what about the other pier on the north end? Also anybody ever try it from a boat further out around the breakwall?

thanks

Just hit Des Moines Pier last night at about 9:30 to 10:30pm. Only one other squidder there and we got nada. Drove down to Tacoma to hit Les Davis pier and mooch off someone else's lights and between the 7-9 of us, they pulled in a measly 5 squid in a couple hours. Anyone tried and done better elsewhere?
Everytime I talk to someone at Teds Sport Center, they always tell me how good it is in Bremerton! I have never been over there, so I wouldnt even know where to start! It would be fun to find some place that is consistant!

I haven't been out to Kingston very much this year, so i don't know how good it is at this time. i remember last year it didn't really heat up until December.

Anyway, the best spot when the squid are in is off the very end of the public fishing pier towards the ferry docks. there isn't a lot of space to work there but most nights

you will be the only one out there, it doesn't get a lot of fishing pressure. this furthest corner of the dock that i am describing is good because it just touches the deep hole

where the bottom was dredged to make a slip for the ferry. everywhere else on the dock is much shallower water. the only downside to this set up is that this is also

the only place on the dock without lighting. however, Ive done very well without bringing a light at times. that being said the best night i've had down there was when

someone had a light i could mooch off of. The shallower stretches of the dock have also produced squid for me at times, the major plus is the lighting.

but to be successful in the shallower spots it comes down to a combination of the perfect tide, how the squid want to cooperate, and a bit of luck.

You can defiantly do well at Kingston without a light when the squid are around, just make sure your jigs are glowing well.

Good luck, and let us know how you do.
Boy Im gonna be getting access to a generator for the year! Tfish- we should meet up sometime this season when it starts heating up out there! I can bring the light!
Greetings! So we can no longer squid by the aquarium downtown? Last year we could plug into the side and squid all night... can someone confirm this? Sad news if it's true.

You can still fish the aquarium pier. But, the outlet has been shut off. I think they are trying to discourage fishing there though. Alas...
Thats why we all need generators!

Hello Everyone,

I tried a few of the docks last year and had no success.

Where is a good place to go by boat? I am planning on launching at Shilshole, so the closer to there the better.

Thanks,

Patrick
Slow down at the waterfront. Last night everyone left by midnight. I stayed till 12:30AM with no squid in the bucket.

Where oh where did the squidies go?
Gave it a shot for the first time from A-dock at Shilshole on Monday night, not a bite. Was only out there from around 7 till 9 or so but didn't see a thing...then again it was the first time I've tried. Will keep trying and report if there's any activity. Any info on Shilshole area would be greatly app'd!
