Well the topic says it all.
I've recently developed a fascination with "living off the land". Since I love calamari and am up for a challenge, why not start here? I've tried poking around the site, but I see a lot of intimidating terminology and am easily confused because of my complete lack of knowledge. I've never even cast a line to catch a regular fish or used a fishing pole--so what a challenge this will be!
I'm eager to learn as much as I can. As I understand it, you can fish for squid day or night, and most are caught at the bottom of the water rather than the middle or top.
Can anyone point me in the right direction for a complete "how to" for fishing calamari? I don't know what kind of jigs or lures to use, what spots to try fishing, or how to even reel one in.
How often do you guys go home empty handed? Since I'm not an avid fisherman, I'm not sure i'll enjoy a fruitless effort. What do you guys to do to pass the time?
