Hi Fellow Squid Fishermen, Im looking into getting into eging and looking for a reel with double handles ive been looking on ebay and found a shimano sedona with double handle for $95 which in my opinion is great BUT its a 3000 size reel and ive heard that 1000-2500 is best. my max is $110 for the reel
Any Help Will Be Great!!

Gee whiz, isn't anyone here anymore? I'm also to blame but if you are still looking for an answer, albeit 4 months late, here it is. Generally, a 2500 size reel is the one that most end up with. Reason is that size balances well with the egi rods which are 7' - 9'. Trouble is that manufacturers have their own sizing standard and taking the 2 Jap giants, Daiwa and Shimano, their respective reels aren't the same size in 2500. Shimano tends to be a little smaller so your Sedona 3000 will be about the size of a Daiwa 2000 so it'll be fine. imo anything below 2000 size is too small for the Japanese style of squid jigging.Â
