Thank you [/quote] I have found that the colder months are the best, when the water is very clear. I usually dont bother too much outside of then. Also , u should go check out the Brisbane EGI club, its specifically for squidding, as this forum is quite outdated =)

Fishing Report 16/04/2011
Body of Water Name: Sandgate Pier Time of Year Season: Autumn Month: Saturday April 16, 2011 Weather Conditions Air Temperature: Cool-Cold 21'C Wind: SE 10-12knots Sky: Overcast Water Conditions Clarity: Muddy Water Temperature: ? Water Level: Rising Tide Jigs Used Yo-Sari 2.0 (Orange) Yo-Sari 2.5 (Green//Yellow) Yo-Sari 3.0 (pink tiger) River 2 Sea 2.5 and 3.0 Presentation Depth: 3, 5, 7, 10 sec. Retrieve: Shyakuri, Shyakuri x3, and Twitch and Dart Start Time: 2:00p.m. Finish Time: 8:30p.m. Remarks: This was our second time squid fishing in Australia (first time in Mooloolaba). South East Queensland is difficult for squiding as there are many large esturine rivers that deposit vast amounts of silt and other debris into the ocean. In my experience squid prefer a sandy or rocky bottom with seaweed. The like CLEAN realtively still water. Maybe Sandgate pier can catch squid the locals say that its pretty tough, they say they are usin the wrong technique but catching squid is idiot proof. At my secret squiding Island in the Gulf of Thailand I see heaps of kids catching squid on a 35baht ($1.10 AUD)YO-SARI squid jig and a Beer Can Hand line land 500g-1kg Squid. I'm sorry SE QLD maybe next time I should save my money and head to Japan. |
