7ft Egi Rods
#1
I am after some information on what Egi rods are available in this length (or very close too) & I realize majority are around 8' plus but wanting something to use purely out of a boat. Already have a Shimano Sephia 6102 matched up with a Stradic 1000F C14 which is a great little outfit but I am looking at possibly purchasing a second & do not want anything longer than 7ft if possible. Have come across the odd one here & there with a couple I found being perfect but looks like the chances of tracking one down & purchasing one of these particular models from Japan is slim to none, one was a Tenryu & the other a Palms. Only other rod that may be suitable & easy to locate is the Gladiator EGI702? Any advice/suggestions appreciated & also some Japanese online Tackle stores (besides Plat) to purchase from would be great.

P.s - Its great to finally be part of a forum where you can actually talk all things Egi & not get criticized in the process.<img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Mate I do the majority of my squiding from a boat and didn't want to get anything over 7ft either, but in the end I went with an 8ft rod because most of the 7ft rods I found were 7'6 or 7'8 and another few inches doesn't make that much of a difference.

I did have a look at the Yamashita's Squid Kid but as you mention only rated for the smaller jigs. I am wanting to use size #2.5 up to #3.5 with whatever rod I end up getting. Reckon I might end up purchasing one of these 7' Gladiator Egi Equip rods & chuck a Daiwa E-Gee on it. Should do the job fine & can get the complete outfit for under $350 which is good, rather do that than spend $400+ on rod only.
