New Daiwa Emeraldas Nude and Yo-Zuri

Has anyone try the new [url="http://daiwafishing.com.au/?p=10711"]Daiwa Emeraldas[/url] Nude or the new [url="http://www.duel.co.jp/catalogue/lineup/d_squid/ez_q_cast/index.html"]Yo-Zuri EZ-Q Cast[/url]?



I really like the shape, patterns and colours on the Daiwa, as it's has all the similarity of the egi's Ive been landing heaps of squid on and I guess that's why I decided to purchase a few.



However same thing can't be said about the Yo-Zuri EZ-Q Cast. What really attracted me to this egi was in fact it looked very similar to a prawn, which all the egi designs are mostly based on and by far this EZ-Q leads hands down mimicking a prawn.



But who am I kidding it's not me these egi needs to impress it's the prawns right? So back to my question, has anyone tried one of these egi's yet?



I've ordered Daiwa Emeraldas Nude online late last week, so it should be arriving tomorrow or Monday, so I guess I can comment on them later but I didn't buy the Yo-zuri's as yet.



Do you think it's just a gimmick?

I have to pump the brakes when Daiwa states "the nude body design allows the lure to glide more easily than a traditional cloth covered jig. It darts, sinks and slides effortlessly at the slightest twitch of the rod tip".



The difference in drag between a conventional cloth covered jig and a nude jig as they move through the water wouldn't be noticeable to the fisherman when inacting their chosen style, at best it would result in decreasing the sink rate.



That being said I think these jigs look fantastic, they seem to be copying gancraft slightly, and it doesn't surprise me that they were effective at night considering cephalopods have advanced vision.

When tested on a normal fishing rod I totally agree reLapse, you're spot on!!!



You probably won't feel the difference between cloth and nude body, but if you're geared up with a Lox Iridium egi 8325 or Rapala T-Spec or Yamashita Whizzer's with Sunline PE 8lb and V-hard Fluorocarbon line. Squid fishing finally becomes eging and I kid you not, sensitivity becomes a whole new ball game and plays a crucial part of your eging.



For example, when you're striking your rod using the Japanese eging style, you will definitely notice the difference between the cloth and nude body. This is due to the drag created by the cloth, which also means nude body is not recommended if your style of eging is mostly moving your egi's left and right as it will be very hard to widen your left and right eging style. I know as a fact that some Yamashita egi's have different cloth for this particular reason, but I can't remember the name of the egi right now. However it's not hard to differentiate the different types of egi cloth because all you have to do is look at them closely and you'll notice some cloth is more rougher compared to others normal egi's cloth.



There's also Yamashita Range Hunters 2.2 (Nude body version) which has a faster sink rate but that's due to the position of the sinker in front not the cloth.



Gan craft I can't really compare, besides both of them having a nude body but Gan craft has a much faster sink rate and they only come in one size 3.5's. Personally, I reckon Gan craft's egi are the best looking egi's when you just rate them in trems of their appearances but because I'm land based and most of my squidding is done on a swallow end, I haven't has much luck with suing Gan craft. (And they are so expensive)



As you said Daiwa Emeraldas Nude is a great looking egi reLapse, so try'em and let me know what you think.
