I learn't something very interesting about squid the other day...
I had a hook up at my local spot in sydney but dropped it after a short violent run. As i cast again in hope of rehooking him i notice he was just cruising beneath me so i reeled in and held the lure in front of it's face. I literally swum him around for 10 minutes but he wouldn't strike he just stalked the jig, i have site cast many squid but never had one hang around this long. Anyway point of the story is, i changed jig colour from bright orange to dark blue. During this time he'd swum away but first cast out and i hooked and landed him. 99% sure it was the same squid as it was decent 39cm hood!
If you have a good hit and drop the squid CHANGE jig colour. Hope this helps
