Although it is not fool proof, this should restrict access to certain information to members only. A non-member will see that there is a members only area but will only see the "Fishing Buddies" and "Competitions" headings. They will not see the other sub-forums (i.e. the Fishing spots sub-forum and the Spearing spots sub-forum) until they actually become a member. This should stop people joining up just for the sake of finding out secret fishing/diving spots!
