Hey FM my owners manual says they can be used out of the water.
Usually they need to be in the water for cooling but these were made for in or out of water use, guess thats why they cost so much. Thinking of making the trip on Friday. With the wind blowing so hard the boat fishing is non existant and doesn't look good till next week to get out, so I'm shore bound and am itching to try (notice I didn't say catch) some squid. Heard some chatter about Marblehead getting some squid back there. Wonder how Salem or Beverly is doing? Scott or Steve?

I was on the Beverly lower docks this past Saturday from about midnight to two... Took home 2... One large, the other no bigger than my lure... Was happy just to be able to take 'email in the month of October...

I'll try hanging them out of the water... though you know... now I'm wondering if the fact that it's LED is what spooks the squid... i mean those new canal lights are LED right? and supposedly squidding is worse with them now... Oh well... I'll give it a try anyway...

What time do you plan on going. Hi tide is at 5pm. Half moon but cloudy and breezy.
Hopefully no wind driven rain.

Just checked capetides.com - the east end of the canal should be at slack tide around 9pm... so I'll probably show up at 8pm and fish till whenever - depending on if i'm catching or not

High tide really is much better. Especially this time if year. The forecast calls for rain Friday. I'll play it by ear Fri but it looks like Sat will be the better day. No rain and an hour later for the high tide. I'll keep you guys posted.

Actually sunday or Monday looks to be better conditions wise.

Well unfortunately the only options I have are fri + sat. I'll prob be there both nights as this may be the last weekend they are here. I won't try next weekend with the full moon. I'll bd there around midnight tonight and stay through till sunrise. The incoming tide seems better lately. Hopefully we can catch them running. One thing that is looking favorable is that there is tons of baitfish around this past week and the blues have moved out.

Sounds good... I'll head out there around midnight then... assuming i don't fall asleep not sure how long I'll stay - though I guess that would depend on whether i'm catching or not...
12-10-2013, 02:26 PM
Going to wait till Sun or Mon and see how you guys make out.

Great night fisher monkey was there also. Grabbed a lot of HUGE squid. 5 of them had 14in tubes. Oddly most were caught just after low tide.
13-10-2013, 02:39 AM
I ended up with seven: 3 small and 4 big Anthony, I only got one more little one after you left - I stayed till 4:15am... I saw one by my light just stalking the baitfish... but it wouldn't go for my jig... it must've stayed there in the light for about 5 minutes... pretty cool to watch... I'm gonna go tonight... will try to get there by 10pm I think...
13-10-2013, 02:50 AM
My total was 19. 15 had >10 inch tubes. I will prob go tonight. Anyway, it's refreshing to still see squid in numbers and a few times we saw some very large schools.
13-10-2013, 03:53 AM
Squid were there because I was not. Maybe try tonight but still looking
at Sun. Looks like weather will break for boat fishing for Tuesday. Planning on going out then for scup and sea bass.
13-10-2013, 09:45 AM
You going on the francis for scup or railroad bridge?
13-10-2013, 11:09 AM
Fished at freezer this afternoon and caught 3 sea bass - 1 keeper...- it is crazy windy - gonna go get dinner then come back for squid - hopefully. Water is very choppy..
13-10-2013, 03:37 PM
Nice, what did u catch the sea bass with? Good luck tonight, doesn't look like I'm going to be able to make it.
13-10-2013, 04:14 PM
Probably go with 7 B's out of pt judith. if thats not available I'll
go with Frances fleet. Tuesday looks to be 2 ft or less. Need to put a whoopin on the scup and sea bass. May be my last trip for a while. |
