G-Day Gabe
Mate i didnt realise that Squid took a break ???? Over here they are pretty sparse on occasion but pretty fluent throughout different depths pretty much all year round ( my opinion ) Â
What type style lure etc are you guys using. I am keen to view different lures and colours to get best results out in the water on any given day

Hajimemashite gabe, welcome to the site.
Â
i think what he is refering to is the big fin reef squid they have over there, disapears for certain times of the year (coz of the seasons) or depending where he lives in japan, there are no squid some times of the year at all. while other areas when one species disapears for the season they gain another .
for example. sword tip squid, which is similar to our arrow squid
Â
from memory they have 6 or 7 different type of squid and cuttlefish they fish for, most of the year round depending the location in the country.(up north its snows, ive never fished in the snow but i guess it isnt pleasent)

Hi,
Â
I live in the Nagasaki prefecture and I use Yamashita brand lures mostly, as I like warm jacket technology. Â I like Red tapes and gold tapes and really like using the dark green lures as well as the reds. Â I squid fish from shore and when the peek season dies down you can jig for hours and go home with one squid. The season will pick back up around April with more larger size squid. I will take some photos of the tackle shops I visit of the different types of squid stuff the sell here in Japan.

Â
tackleberry was good, if u want cheaper stuff, or second hand tackle mostly in very good condition.

Tackleberry seems to have gotten expensive now for it's used stuff. My favorite place around here is called "Point" I will go today and snap some pics.
