Port Hacking Session
#1
I've been meaning to post this up, but things at home etc have been so hectic.

Anyways, back in August I was supposed to meet up with innky for a quick Cronulla session.

He ended up backing out due to something coming up, so I headed out alone.

Managed 2 calamari, then at the top of the tide, the egi got absolutely smashed.

Scared me at first as I though it might have been a Salmon or something, and my eging reel only has 100m of 4kg braid.

Unlike squid, which I've always found hit from the side or top, this hit came from underneath.

After a almost 15 minutes (thats including the time to get in onto the rocks as I'm land based) I managed this awesome 4.5Kg Sepia/Cuttlefish!

I was using a Whizzer's Jive 8'6 and Shimano Soare30.

Thanks guys.

I was over the moon, as you can imagine.

I probably won't manage that again <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

been fishing port hacking last week n this week, been getting a few around the 20cm mark and a lot of bait sized arrows, ohh and a couple of puffer fish lol, which is a first for a squid jig! :wh

theres been a couple ppl on different days saying theyve hooked up on a big squid pulling drag and losing them in the fight, i havent seen it while im there, but its quite possible there is the odd big cala cruising around. :ink

Been meaning to head down there. Heard alot of good things from people from the harbour that also go there. Cant justify the extra travel time just yet though!
