I had tried to get into squid fishing 2021 but gave it up as there were no reports of Connecticut locations and it was too far to get to RI/MA locations, too much for a guy in his 70s. After acquiring lures and squid lights, had to put it all away. Wednesday as I was coming in to Dock Road launch Jordan Cove, Waterford CT I was surprised to see a kayaker launching with two poles equipped with squid jig trees. He showed me a picture on his phone of the 20 squid he got a few days earlier, all large females. He fished in 50 feet of water off Millstone power plant outflow, said at night with squid lights they can be taken from the rocks alongside the boat launch.
I plan to launch 3AM Tuesday morning when the wind/waves are forecast to be quiet with squid lights and gear to try a few hours in the darkness. I have no idea what I am doing but will watch YouTube videos. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.
